Johnnjalyn Gilliam

Johnnjalyn Gilliam’s story of excellence is one of pride and legacy. She is the continuation of excellence set by her grandmother, who successfully raised eight kids and completed her Bachelor’s Degree, and worked for over 30 years as an educator. Her grandparents defined black excellence. Her grandfather, who finished his college degree in the late fifties, was one of the few black principals in Mississippi during the civil rights period.

 

Johnnjalyn is the Global Quality Director for a Global Fortune 500 chemical company. She focuses on quality control on a global scale. She is a chemist by trade and honed her skills in the male-dominated semiconductor industry. She is a worldwide phenomenon in the industry because of her successful international experience, which includes working in Japan, Germany, Italy, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and France. Her resume includes working for Hitachi, Samsung, NEC, Air Liquide, and Texas Instruments.

 

Johnnjalyn states that her excellence is due to her passion for being the best. However, she points out that her quest for excellence is not just about her. She wants to leave a footprint of excellence and help mentor the younger generation on excellence. Johnnjalyn volunteers her time with young people and maintains a strong commitment to mentoring and encouraging them to pass forward their knowledge. She states,” it is gratifying when you mentor someone and watch their professional growth; it’s so rewarding.” She also serves on the board for Platinum Charities which provides educational scholarships. 

 

Johnnjalyn recognizes that excellence is a package: your mind, appearance, and passion are all essential to reaching excellence. Johnnjalyn is also known for her style and fashion. Johnnjalyn says, “people notice how you carry yourself when you’re representing your company, how you dress may be noticed, and when she walks in the room, it creates an environment of professionalism and respect.”

 

Johnnjalyn holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Tennessee State University and an MBA in Engineering from the University of Dallas.
